Last week, I had the honor of photographing the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law—an inspiring event that brought together legal scholars, students, activists, and thought leaders from around the globe.
The Academy is known for creating a dynamic platform to engage in some of the most pressing human rights issues of our time. From powerful keynote addresses to deeply moving panel discussions, every moment was a testament to the importance of advocacy, education, and international cooperation.
As a photographer, I’m often behind the lens capturing stories that unfold in a single second—but this event was one that truly lingered. The passion in the room was unmistakable. You could see it in the intensity of the conversations, the solidarity between attendees, and the heartfelt expressions during sessions focused on justice, equity, and human dignity.
It was a privilege to document such a powerful gathering—one that reminds us that human rights work is not only critical, but deeply human. Every photo taken was more than an image—it was a visual record of commitment, community, and courage.
To the organizers, speakers, and attendees—thank you for letting me be part of your story.
